Chastain has been working in international health for 25 years, with more than 10 years of that time implementing programs in sub-Saharan Africa. A former Foreign Service Officer, Chastain has worked for bilateral and multi-lateral agencies, as well as for large and small non-profits. In her 11 years at Population Services International (PSI) Chastain served as the country director in Togo and Uganda, where she designed and implemented social marketing and franchising programs in HIV, reproductive health, malaria, and child survival. In each place, with a team of more than 100 local staff, Chastain developed marketing and communications strategies for health products and services, as well as monitoring and evaluation, sales and distribution, franchising, and advocacy approaches. As PSI’s VP for Strategic Partnerships and Business Development, Chastain led a team that created fund raising strategies to raise more than $4 billion over 6 years.
More recently, Chastain worked with Woman Care Global as President of Programs, where she led fund raising efforts as well as program implementation, with a focus on improving the value chain for reproductive health commodities. Chastain’s inspiration for starting Mann Global Health was to bring together some of the world’s leading experts in measurable, effective health programming, and share their talents with global health clients.

Zahra Aziz is a nonprofit management and communications strategist, brand builder and advisor to executive teams and boards. As a consultant she has guided sector leaders and board members through leadership transitions and change management processes. She has advised on business and advocacy strategy, built large-scale communications and marketing plans, and brokered numerous partnerships in the sexual and reproductive health sector. Previously, she served as the founding communications director for Family Planning 2020, where she led the creation of the FP2020 brand after the landmark 2012 London Summit on Family Planning. Zahra also drove communication efforts behind EngenderHealth’s award-winning WTFP?!, Where’s the Family Planning?! Campaign, and UNFPA’s first iteration of the Safe Birth, Even Here campaign to prevent maternal deaths in humanitarian and fragile settings. Zahra holds a MSc. in Strategic Communications from Columbia University and is currently pursuing an MLA in Management, with a nonprofit concentration, from Harvard University.

Su is a marketing and design thinking expert with experience in the private and social sectors. Most recently at PSI, Su led and facilitated teams across countries in Africa and Asia to address public health challenges including HIV, SRH/FP, WASH and PHC leveraging marketing, HCD and market development approaches. Su previously led the adolescent girls portfolio at the UN Foundation and has also worked at Plan International USA, managing the strategy and execution of the ‘Because I am a Girl’ Initiative. Su has brand management experience in Health Care at Procter & Gamble and served in the Peace Corps in Samoa. Su holds an undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering from Case Western Reserve University and an MBA from Duke University with concentrations in Social Entrepreneurship and Marketing.

Sarah Bowler is a doctoral student at the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s School of Public Health studying Maternal & Child Health Policy. Her research focuses on the intersection of law and sexual & reproductive health issues, with a focus on access to healthcare services. During her master’s, Sarah worked on a number of research projects looking at a variety of topics, from global HIV testing protocols to children’s mental health issues. Sarah holds an MPH in Health Management & Policy from Drexel University and a Bachelors’ in Biological Sciences and Sociology from the University of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Nirali Chakraborty has over 10 years of experience in research, monitoring and evaluation, and is a managing partner at Insight Metrics. Her work currently focuses on the evidence-based design of performance metrics, and their deployment. Dr. Chakraborty uses a combination of rigorous research and a keen awareness of the dynamics of data collection and use to work with organizations and governments to select and employ appropriate measures. While at Population Services International, she oversaw the quality and dissemination of their reproductive health related research internationally, and has conducted studies in numerous countries. Dr. Chakraborty has published over 15 peer-reviewed articles in a variety of health and measurement topics, and is fluent in French, and conversant in three Indian languages. She received her PhD in International Health, with a concentration in Health Systems, from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
Insight Metrics improves the lives and wellbeing of underserved individuals around the world by helping organizations in the social sector measure performance, harness the power of their data, evaluate the impact and efficiency of their programs, and increase accountability through smart data use. To ensure programs and managers have the critical information they need to measure and maximize their impact, we support organizations across the monitoring and evaluation continuum, from conceptualizing a theory of change and results framework, to metric development, research, and data use strategies, in order to build a culture of evidence-based management and strategic decision-making. We believe that data is key to program and organization success, and so we prioritize producing easy to use and actionable information that will inform program improvements in real-time, support evidence-based management, and strengthen advocacy efforts. We have experience working with individuals, small businesses, small and large nonprofit organizations, and government ministries to successfully develop and implement measurement initiatives that strengthen management capacity and organizational impact.

Dr. Desmond Chavasse is a global health leader with a broad range of qualifications and more than 30 years international experience, which he applies to accelerate progress towards global health goals. Des’s early career focused on vector borne disease control including ivermectin trials for onchocerciasis control and delivery mechanisms for insecticide treated mosquito nets for malaria control. More recently, as PSI’s Senior Vice President for Malaria Control and Child Survival Des’s technical skills have extended to neonatal health, nutrition and sanitation. As PSI’s Chief Evidence Officer, Des led research, monitoring and performance management agendas at global level across 55 countries. Des has also led a series of market assessment initiatives, including ACTwatch, and was PSI’s Country Director in Malawi for 3 years.
Des holds a BSc. in zoology from University of Nottingham and a PhD in medical entomology from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. He was a Lecturer at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine where he published in the Lancet on diarrhoea control and wrote 2 books on applied vector control. Des has held positions within key international malaria policy fora, including WHO, GFATM and RBM.

Colleen Connell is a seasoned global health leader with significant experience in market dynamics and supply chain. She is currently an Advisor focused on improving health product access and affordability in developing countries. Previously, Colleen worked with MedAccess first as the Chief Markets Officer and then a Senior Advisor for Business Development and Investments. Her main responsibilities were to develop a volume guarantee product pipeline, and to execute deals. Before that, Colleen held a number of roles at the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI): first as the Regional Manager for CHAI’s Caribbean programs, where she launched early infant diagnosis programs in 9 countries, as well as identified opportunities to save more than $2 million annually in antiretroviral costs by improving procurement practices, strengthening stock management, and reducing stockouts; then she became the Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Country Director for CHAI’s Haiti program where she developed emergency supply chains, expanded HIV care, and improved laboratory systems; next she was CHAI’s Senior Director for New Market Opportunities, where she evaluated markets for drugs, diagnostics, health-related devices, and other products to identify opportunities to improve quality, expand access, and increase affordability; and finally Colleen became Vice President of Disease Strategy for CHAI’s Access to Medicines group where she was oversaw the development of strategy and execution for the HIV, TB, Malaria, Hepatitis and New Market Teams. Prior to CHAI, Colleen worked as a management consultant with Booz Allen focusing on strategic and program planning and business process engineering. Colleen holds a BS in Economics and Political Science from Fordham University and a MBA from Yale University.

Alamelu is an organizational development and human resources professional with over 17 years experience in partnering with organizational leaders to address their talent needs. Over the last decade Alamelu has held key roles in HR and talent development and successfully developed organizational capacity both at headquarters and the country offices of PSI and FINCA. Prior to her roles in international development, Alamelu worked as a strategic HR consultant in the private sector. She is the co-founder of RISE, a global HR and Talent Development consulting firm that strengthens HR departments and develops organization talent. Alamelu has travelled considerably across Africa and Asia for work. She holds an MBA in Human Resources & Information systems and is a certified facilitator in the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator personality instrument.

Sarah has been working in international health for 20 years based in East and Southern Africa. She is a strategic leader who has served in both technical and operational capacities, managing annual budgets of $25+million and leading and supporting staff teams of 300+.
Through postings in Malawi, South Susan, Ethiopia and Tanzania, Sarah has robust experience and skills in: strategic planning; project design, planning, implementation and evaluation; organizational restructuring; building and leading successful teams; and mentoring and coaching talent. She is also a trained and experienced facilitator. Through her leadership roles, Sarah has experience in managing and participating on non-profit governance boards in line with established best practice.
Sarah has provided technical assistance in market development and facilitation, social marketing, social and behavioral change communications, HIV, ASRH and malaria. She has exceptional written and interpersonal communication skills and enjoys applying them to improve communication of complex issues to establish trust and create a shared way forward.
Sarah calls a small eco-house in Scotland home and loves walking the Scottish mountains, practicing yoga, reading and spending time with her daughter and dog.

Julie has over 15 years of experience in program and research management, partnership engagement, marketing, and consulting. She is a specialist in market-based approaches to development and has overseen numerous initiatives aimed at improving the design and affordability of products, supporting the growth of social enterprises, and catalyzing policy action. She has significant experience managing market research studies and policy analyses and developing synthesis reports, briefs, and other tools to support decision making by policymakers, investors, and other stakeholders. She spent over 10 years at the United Nations Foundation (UNF), where she cultivated and managed partnerships with a diverse set of stakeholders, from UN agencies and governments to entrepreneurs and community-based organizations working in energy access, global health, climate, and women’s empowerment. While at UNF, Julie oversaw the build out of a behavior change communication program for UNF’s Clean Cooking Alliance initiative. She led the design, implementation, and evaluation of interventions utilizing a range of approaches, from reality TV to community-based outreach, across 8 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Earlier in her career, she served as an analyst at a digital marketing agency and as a non-profit strategy and operations consultant. Julie holds an MA in International Economic Policy from American University.

Chris is a strategic leader, passionate in leveraging the private sector to empower the vulnerable to lead healthier lives. Chris brings fifteen years of international executive leadership experience in the design and execution of strategy supporting the delivery of life-saving clinical services, products, and marketing messages through the private sector. Chris was responsible for operations of country health programs in Central Asia, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Kenya, where he honed skills and insight to get the most out of teams delivering impact. Annual budgets ran to $45 million per annum, supported by 250+ staff. Postings in Asia and Africa saw the launch and rapid scale up of innovative, sustainable programs improving malaria, reproductive health, child survival, and HIV/AIDS outcomes of at-risk populations. As PSI’s Global Network Catalyst, Chris focused on maximizing the value PSI delivered to Global Network Members. When not traveling the world on global assignments, Chris spends his days skiing, biking, hiking, and getting outside in the woods of North Idaho with his family.

She successfully managed a portfolio of complex, multi-donor funded programs, supervised contract compliance, and developed social marketing/behavior change communication programs and social franchising projects with a special focus on Total Market Approaches for reproductive and child health, family planning, STI/HIV, and malaria. She is skilled in applying formative research and has led market analyses and assessments that resulted in the successful launch of a variety of contraceptives, HIV testing services, and water treatment products. Angelika has extensive experience in leading multi-cultural teams of 50+ staff and strengthening their capacity through ongoing training, constructive supervision, mentoring, and strategic planning. Dr. Kim Longfield has more than 20 years of experience in global health and international development. Her areas of expertise include translating evidence into practice, stakeholder engagement, strategic advising and communications, research and evaluation design, and capacity building. She excels at presenting complicated information to a range of audiences and using evidence to inform decision-making. Prior to consulting, Kim served as Director of Strategic Research and Evaluation at Population Services International. Her work has been used to develop, monitor, and evaluate programs, analyze health markets, and advocate for standard measures across organizations. She is the author of more than forty publications and has worked in social marketing and social franchising, behavior change, HIV/AIDS, reproductive health and family planning, safe abortion, maternal health, child health, malaria, tuberculosis, and non-communicable diseases. She has on-the-ground experience in 36 countries throughout Asia, Africa, Central America, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East. Kim has a PhD in Sociology and International Health and a MPH in International Health/Health Communication and Education, both from the Tulane University.

Miriam Mhazo has a career in public health spanning over 20 years with a special focus on HIV prevention. She spent 18 years with Population Services International (PSI) and rose through the ranks from Program Manager to Country Director. This strengthened her skills in program management, program evaluation, organizational development, strategic plan development, social franchising and team leadership.
Ms. Mhazo has extensive experience with HIV and HIV programs. She started off her career at PSI in Zimbabwe managing the HIV testing program. PSI with support from National Department of Health (NDOH) invited her to South Africa to set up the HIV testing program. In South Africa she spearheaded the adaptation of HIV testing protocols and manuals; leveraged other NGOs to expand HTS coverage through social franchising and set up mobile HTS leading to expanded relationships with communities, partners, donors, and government. Her program became a learning hub for other NGOs especially the internal quality control systems and use of tents for mobile HTS. Under her leadership in South Africa PSI pioneered Mobile HTS, Home Based HTS and HIV Self Testing Ms. Mhazo oversaw the management of Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision program, HIV testing services, Public Sector Condom distribution and Training. She worked with the US Defense and South African military to develop a “special” condom for the South African military. She also oversaw the development South African public sector condoms Max and Maxima which are very popular with the public.
Prior to her distinguished career in the health sector, she taught children with special needs for 16 years. Ms. Mhazo holds a MA in Education from UK’s Birmingham University, a Certificate in Systemic Family Therapy from Zimbabwe Institute of Systemic Therapy and an Advanced Health Management certificate from Yale University and Foundations for Professional Development.

Dr. Nora Miller is a trained researcher in public health and sexual reproductive health with a background in mixed methods research, program evaluation, and implementation science. Nora previously served as a Technical Advisor for WomanCare Global and the USAID-funded Expanding Effective Contraceptive Options Project (EECO) to introduce new types of family planning methods in sub-Saharan Africa. Since joining Mann Global Health, she has led a number of projects on market landscaping and supply chains for contraceptives, marketing and communications for health, and strategic planning for non-profits. Nora has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from UMass Amherst and a Masters of Science and PhD in Global Public Health both from Harvard University.

Veronica has over 20 years’ experience in health management in the areas of HIV/AIDS, Maternal & Child Health, Reproductive Health, Social Marketing, and Social Franchising. She worked with Population Services International for 15 years in various capacities and was the Deputy Country Director at the time of her resignation in 2011 to pursue a career in consultancy. Her core competences include health programs design, implementation, and evaluation, market landscape assessments using market systems approaches such as Total Market Approach (TMA) and Making Markets work for the Poor (M4P), private sector assessments, market research, and social behavior change communications. Veronica led the development of one of Kenya’s first successful social franchises in health - the Tunza Family Health Network - that is managed by Population Services Kenya and has over 300 private clinics offering diverse health services. As a health management consultant, she has provided a wide range of consultancy services to clients such as Population Services International, Cardno Emerging Markets, Jhpiego, Marie Stopes International, Abt Associates, PSI/Ethiopia, MOH/Ethiopia, Futures Group/Palladium, as well as international consultancy firms seeking to work with experienced Kenyan consultancies for assignments based in Kenya. Veronica has an MBA from the University of Nairobi and a BA in Psychology from the University of Baroda, India.

She has negotiated and led numerous public-private partnerships to facilitate market entry and access to essential health products including injectable and implant contraceptives, plastic septic tanks and low dead space syringes. An accomplished team leader, Ms. Neukom has built and led high-performing, multi-national teams to overcome public health and market development challenges in numerous country contexts. She has exceptionally strong analysis and written as well as interpersonal communication skills. Her credentials include degrees from Dartmouth College and Princeton Universities and multiple peer-reviewed publications describing evidence-based health programs she played a leading role designing, managing and evaluating.

Aasha has over 20 years of experience working for non-profit organizations and social enterprises with a focus on sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and women’s empowerment. She started working on public health issues as a program manager for International Rescue Committee in Kenya covering Southern Sudan and Somalia in the 1990s.
She has spent most of her career working for Marie Stopes International. As Regional Director for East and Southern Africa, she provided direct strategic support to MSI’s country programs leading to significant expansion and improvements in quality, access, and sustainability. Aasha was heavily involved in MSI’s scale up of social franchising and the launch of medical abortion. She was instrumental in securing a number of significant bilateral and multilateral grants as part of sector-wide health approaches in Africa, as well as leading successful proposals for MSI globally. Recently Aasha led the relationship and engagement with a large private foundation, providing oversight of a US$140 million portfolio of contraception and safe abortion projects across MSI. Aasha has worked closely with country programs in Africa and Asia, strengthening the technical rigor of their operations and client care.
Aasha’s areas of expertise are strategy; organizational development; mentoring and coaching senior leaders; and governance. She excels in inspiring and leading team members to deliver results. Aasha has extensive board experience having served on a number of non-profit boards She is currently Board Director and Chair of the Program Committee for EMpower, the Emerging Markets Foundation, which focuses on improving the lives of young people, particularly education and SRH for girls.

Celina Schocken is a senior advisor on women’s health, maternal health, development and adoption of new technologies, and health systems strengthening. She advises non-profits, foundations and startup companies on program scale up and product introduction throughout the world.
Previously, Ms. Schocken was the CEO of Pink Ribbon Red Ribbon, a public private partnership focused on cervical and breast cancer. Ms. Schocken was Director of Policy and Advocacy at Merck for Mothers, where she led the Saving Mothers, Giving Life partnership, and Director of International Organizations at Population Services International (PSI), where she managed PSI’s work with the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria and other multilateral organizations. She also served as Chief Advisor to the Rwandan Minister of State for HIV/AIDS and Other Epidemics. She was a fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations.
Schocken received her juris doctor and master’s degree in public policy from the University of California, Berkeley, and a master’s in business administration from New York University, the London School of Economics and Political Science, and HEC Paris. She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Chicago.

Donna is a health marketing and social behavior change communication (SBCC) specialist with more than 15 years of global health experience spanning a range of health areas – HIV, TB, family planning, adolescent reproductive health, nutrition and malaria. After nearly 10 years in private sector healthcare marketing in the United States, she moved to the non-profit sector and spent seven years in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda designing and managing health communication and advocacy programs, including a regional health communication project. Donna held senior leadership positions at PSI, including Deputy Director for HIV and TB. In this role she designed and led PSI’s global HIV strategy and provided technical assistance to SBCC and insight-driven product and service marketing interventions, including those for newly proven and emerging technologies (i.e. HIV self testing, voluntary medical male circumcision).
Donna has deep experience in new business development, training and capacity building in SBCC, and social marketing, and has provided technical assistance to countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean. Donna’s technical skills have earned her an international reputation as a social marketing and SBCC strategist and leader who can develop effective, market based strategies, design realistic plans for program implementation and build local staff capacity.

Ms. Andrea Sprockett has expertise in the management of large cross-cultural teams and community engagement initiatives, and is a managing partner at Insight Metrics. She has experience overseeing a portfolio of international project partnerships, with a focus on development and implementation of performance metrics and use of data for operational and strategic decision-making. Ms. Sprockett is trained in human-centered design techniques and the application of user-centered approaches to assess and build organizational capacity to use data for management. She has experience designing training programs that actively engage clients in learning and knowledge application within their organization. Ms. Sprockett is fluent in Spanish and holds a Master’s degree in International Public Health from the University of Sydney, and a Master’s degree in Spanish Translation from Kent State University.

Anne is a brand strategist and marketing communications leader with over 15 years’ experience in private sector brand management, including roles at Starbucks (VP of Marketing and Category for Evolution Fresh) and Procter & Gamble (multiple roles across Olay, PUR, Vicks, and Zest). Anne's specialities include brand positioning and architecture, marketing communications and multi-media activation, innovation strategy, new product development, consumer insights, group facilitation, and collaborative problem solving. Prior to embarking on a career in brand management, Anne held roles at Management Sciences for Health, where she provided technical assistance in information management systems in francophone Africa and Haiti. Her work includes designing and implementing outcomes-oriented monitoring, evaluation, and learning plans using complexity-aware techniques; advising teams on strategic planning and implementation; and supporting evidence-based programs and scale-up of best practices.
In addition to having expertise in business development and diversification, knowledge management, and project management, she is well-versed in research approaches from early stage product development through implementation science. Her areas of in-depth knowledge include sexual and reproductive health and rights, family planning, menstrual health, contraceptive development, and gender equality.
During her eleven years at FHI 360, Lucy served as the monitoring and evaluation lead for several large ($25M+) USAID- and Gates Foundation-funded projects, designing innovative, yet practical approaches to track results of research, advocacy, capacity building, and innovation activities. She also led the organization’s internal strategy work to expand its presence in the family planning field. In the nearly five years she led this work, revenue from family planning projects doubled.
She lived and worked for three years in several African countries. In 2016, Lucy was recognized as a leader in family planning by the Gates Institute’s “120 Under 40: The New Generation of Family Planning Leaders” initiative.
